There are three stages of academic review:
If you receive a notification 1 letter, it means that you have been identified as making unsatisfactory progress in your program. Therefore, you are strongly advised to seek assistance in order to improve your performance in the next Study Period. This might be from someone in the University, or someone external to the University, and will depend on the nature of the problem. If you are struggling with the content of your course or program, please see your Course Coordinator or Program Director.
If you receive a notification 2 letter, it means that you have have again been identified as making unsatisfactory progress in your program and you are required to meet with your Program Director.
If a face-to-face meeting is not possible the meeting can be carried out via telephone.
Please keep a record of this meeting in case you need to provide evidence at a later stage.
If you receive a notification 3 letter, it means that you have been identified as making unsatisfactory progress in your program for a third time and, therefore, your case will be reviewed by a Division committee.
The committee may decide that you are to be precluded from your program. Their decision will also include consideration of any action that you may have taken already to try and resolve problems.
Alternatively, the committee can decide that you need to receive further counselling. In these cases, your enrolment in subsequent Study Periods will be individually monitored by your Program Director.
If you continue to make unsatisfactory progress, your Program Director may recommend a special meeting of the school committee and preclusion may be re-considered as an outcome.
The University is required to notify the Department of Immigration and Border Protection if your enrolment is deferred, temporarily suspended, or cancelled. Suspension or cancellation of your enrolment (i.e. preclusion) may affect your student visa.
