Artichoke Magazine Prize in Interior Architecture

Architecture Media through it's design journal 'Artichoke' offers a prize for one final year student at each of the interior design/interior architecture degree courses in Australia and New Zealand. Awarded to a final year student who demonstrates excellence in the visual, written and verbal communication of their final ARCH 4012 (Interior Architecture Studio 8) project.
Value: 2 year subscription to 'Artichoke' magazine and image of project citation in an issue of 'Artichoke' magazine.

Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Final Year Outstanding Practice Award

The Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Final Year Outstanding Practice Award is awarded annually to the student with the best critical examination paper from the portfolio assessment requirement for WELF 4019 Social Work Field Education 2, taken as part of the Bachelor of Social Work, or for WELF 5106 Social Work Practicum 2, taken as part of the Master of Social Work.
Each year prizes will be available for one final-year student in each of the Bachelor of Social Work programs at Magill, Mount Gambier and Whyalla, and for one final-year student in the Master of Social Work program.
Papers will be judged by the Field Education Selection panel.

Australian Institute of Architects (SA Chapter) Prize

For over half a century the South Australian Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) has awarded prizes to outstanding students studying Architecture at UniSA and its antecedent institutions.

The AIA Prize (SA Chapter) will be awarded to students based on academic excellence across the 5 years of the following degree programs in Architecture at UniSA:

The Prize will be awarded in 5 distinct categories as follows:

Australian Literacy Educators' Association University Prize

ALEA provides leadership and support for teachers in understanding the complex range of literacies.   It provides opportunities for professional development, promotes research in the classroom, and supports parents, caregivers and the community in understanding literacy issues.   The prize, an ALEA membership for one year, is intended to recognise outstanding teacher education students in their final core English/Literacy curriculum course.

The Brain Injury Network (BINSA) Creative and Feature Writing Award

The Brain Injury Network (BINSA) Creative and Feature Writing Award is awarded to a student enrolled in COMM 3045 Writing and Professional Practice. The prize is awarded for the most outstanding feature article on the topic of brain injury (750 words), in response to a presentation by BINSA during the course. The feature article is a course requirement and assessed on interviewing, writing and research skills.

The Constance Gordon-Johnson Sculpture Prize will be offered to final year students enrolled in the Bachelor of Visual Arts, Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) or Bachelor of Art and Design (Honours) with a specialisation in Sculpture and Installation at the South Australian School of Art. The annual prize is to assist with the professional development of the award recipient/s in the field of art practice.

de Lissa Early Childhood Prize

The University has established the de Lissa Early Childhood fund to support a prize to acknowledge the most outstanding undergraduate student who has completed an early childhood education degree program (or specialization) in the preceding calendar year and who has also successfully completed Professional Experience placements in both child care and preschool settings for children aged between birth and five years.

The fund has been made possible by the generosity of The de Lissa Association of Early Childhood Graduates Inc. Following the formal closure of the Association in 2011, the prize will be named in honor of Lillian de Lissa and her work in establishing kindergartens and early childhood teacher education in South Australia.

Department for Correctional Services Award

Awarded annually to a social work student whose work focuses on social work in the criminal justice system and can include a relevant Honours thesis, or an appropriate field work placement yielding a tangible result, or completion of the course Contemporary Practice Approaches, and the work is of an excellent standard.
Selection will be made cooperatively by the School's academic staff and the Senior Staff Development Officer (Professional Services) of the Department of Correctional Services.

The Laminex Prize in Interior Architecture Innovation

The Laminex Prize in Interior Architecture Innovation is awarded to a Bachelor of Interior Architecture student who demonstrates outstanding design innovation in Interior Architecture Studio 6: Work Placement (ARCH 3013). Shortlisted students will present their work to a selection panel comprised of representatives from the Laminex Group and the School of Art, Architecture and Design.
Value: The prize consists of a one-day session with Laminex's International Colour Consultant in Sydney or Melbourne and attendance at a major national industry event, including flights and accommodation.

Lydia Longmore Memorial Award

Awarded to the final year student in the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education who has completed the most outstanding junior primary teaching practicum and has achieved high academic results over the four years of the program.

The President of the Friends of the South Australian School of Art has provided a prize for a graduating student in visual arts who has produced a first-class body of work, shows artistic leadership among their fellow artists, both students and teachers, is best able to articulate their philosophy of the arts, and has a clear perspective on the artistic direction they want to pursue.

Pro Vice Chancellor's Acquisition Prize

Awarded to one student annually for a piece of work exhibited in the School of Art, Architecture and Design graduate exhibition. The recipient will be chosen by the Division Pro Vice Chancellor. School of Education Staff Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence - Postgraduate

This Award has been established in memory of former colleagues who have passed away while working in the School of Education. The award is offered annually to one high achieving postgraduate student in a pre-service teaching program who demonstrates excellent communication skills, leadership potential and community involvement, and has a strong vision for the education profession. The award is to assist the recipient in achieving their professional goals.

One postgraduate recipient will be selected from students who have completed the first year of the Master of Teaching program (Early Childhood, Primary or Secondary specialisations).

The recipient will be selected on the basis of:
1. academic merit as judged by program grade point average (GPA) at the end of the first year of the Master of Teaching program; and
2. successful completion of all Professional Experience placements in the program and outstanding performance in the final professional experience course EDUC5221 or EDUC5222 Professional Experience and Reflection 2; and
3. a one-page written statement detailing their career objectives and how the Award will assist in achieving their goals. They should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, leadership potential, community involvement and a vision for the education profession.

The recipient must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

School of Education Staff Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence - Undergraduate

This Award has been established in memory of former colleagues who have passed away while working in the School of Education. The award is offered annually to one high achieving undergraduate student in a pre-service teaching program who demonstrates excellent communication skills, leadership potential and community involvement, and has a strong vision for the education profession. The award is to assist the recipient in achieving their professional goals.

One undergraduate recipient will be selected from students enrolled in the third year of either the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood, Primary, or Primary and Middle specialisations) or the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) (Design & Technology/Food & Textile Technologies).

The recipient will be selected on the basis of:
1. academic merit as judged by program grade point average (GPA) at the completion of the third year of the Bachelor of Education program; and
2. successful completion of all Professional Experience placements in the program and outstanding performance in the final professional experience course EDUC3061 Professional Experience 3; and
3. a one-page written statement detailing their career objectives and how the Award will assist in achieving their goals. They should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, leadership potential, community involvement and a vision for the education profession.
The recipient must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

The Shape Australia Prize in Interior Architecture is available to all students enrolled in ARCH 3058 Interior Architecture Studio 6 (Workplace Environments). The prize winner is selected on the basis of demonstrated excellence in the final assignment in this course. The prize is judged at the end of Study Period 5.
Value: two weeks work placement and an iPad tablet (value: $600)

Sheila Bailey Early Childhood Education Prize

Sheila Bailey has generously provided the Sheila Bailey Early Childhood Education Prize, which is open to South Australian students whose home is in a rural, remote or isolated area and who have had to relocate to Adelaide in order to undertake their university program. Eligible students must be are enrolled in the second year of the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) program. The $1,000 prize is awarded on the basis of grade point average on completion of the first year of the program, and will assist with educational costs.

The Zenith Prize in Interior Architecture is awarded to the student in the Bachelor of Interior Architecture enrolled in ARCH 4012 - Interior Architecture Studio 8: Advanced with the best demonstrated design progress, as determined by the selection panel and taking into consideration marks received and classroom participation at the time of judging.
Value: $1000.00 consisting of $500 cash and $500 worth of Zenith products chosen by the recipient
