The Applied Physics Encouragement Award

Awarded to one student, in Applied Physics courses, in the previous one or two study periods in any year of the Bachelor of Science (Applied Physics major) program and associated double degrees.

The Arthur J Smith Prize

The Arthur J Smith Prize is awarded to the student who has completed the Bachelor of Environmental Science (LBVT), Bachelor of Science (LBSC) or the Bachelor of Geospatial Science (LBSP); has completed EART1010, EART 1011, EART 3012 and EART 3020 and has achieved the highest aggregate mark for these four courses.

Recipients must be Australian citizens or permanent residents and have been enrolled full-time.

The prize has been established in honour of Arthur John Smith, a gold prospector who in 1906, was the first Australian to discover radioactive ore at Radium Hill which is located approximately 460 km north-east of Adelaide.

Awarded to the student achieving the highest grade point average upon completing their first year in the Bachelor of Construction Management and Economics program.

Australian Institute of Building, South Australian Chapter - H F Sarah Award

Awarded annually to the best third year student in the Bachelor of Construction Management and Economics (Honours) program. The student must have completed the first three years of full-time study in the program‚ or its equivalent in part-time study. The student must be a member of the Australian Institute of Building. The School of Natural and Built Environments will submit the names of three (3) eligible candidates in order of academic merit to the Australian Institute of Building, South Australian Chapter. The students will be required to attend an individual panel interview which will be conducted at UniSA. From these three (3) shortlisted students one recipient will be chosen.
Value: One week's accommodation and fare paid to visit either Singapore‚ New Zealand or an Australian capital city. A full written report of the visit must be submitted to the Institute. Donor awards prize‚ value of $2‚000 and the two tickets to the South Australia Building Excellence Awards‚ $240 in value.

Australian Institute of Project Management Prize

The Australian Institute of Project Management Prize will be awarded to a student achieving the highest grade point average (GPA) upon completing their final year in the Master of Project Management degree and who, in the opinion of the Program Director, has performed with great distinction throughout his/her program.

Value: A complimentary 1 year student membership with the AIPM and one year complimentary access to all AIPM events held in South Australia. Total prize value of approximately $1,200.

Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors Prize

Awarded to the student in the Bachelor of Construction, Management and Economics program for the highest aggregate mark in the courses Quantity Surveying 3R and 4R.

Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) Prize - Graduate Diploma in Library and Information Management

Australian Society for Operations Research Prize

The Australian Society for Operations Research Prize (ASOR Prize) is awarded to the graduate from either the Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences (LBMA) or the Bachelor of Quantitative Finance (DBQF) program with the most outstanding combined results in the courses; Linear Programming and Networks; Introduction to Stochastic Processes; and Optimisation.

Awarded to the student with the most outstanding academic performance in the first year of a Bachelor program in Computer and Information Science.

Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Team Player Award

Awarded to the student completing the course INFT 5023 ICT Masters Project 1 who demonstrates the strongest teamwork qualities in the course. Students within the course will be asked to rank their fellow students.

Include step process:
- Students from each group rank their group members in terms of being a team player on a scale from 1 - 10.
- The average results for each student are calculated and compared across groups.
In the event of a tie, the prize will be evenly divided between the students with the same score.

Bob Mierisch Memorial Prize in Civil and Structural Engineering

The Bob Mierisch Memorial Prize in Civil and Structural Engineering has been established by Judy Mierisch in memory of her late husband, Bob, who was a well respected civil engineer and construction leader. Bob Mierisch headed Baulderstone Hornibrook for nearly 30 years. He was awarded an AM in 1994 for service to the building and construction industry and to the community and he received a Centenary Medal in 2001 for service to Australian society in the technological industry.

The prize will be awarded to the student, undertaking the final year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Civil and Structural) and studying full-time, who achieves the highest aggregate grade for that year.

Ralston Medal for Excellence in Physical Chemistry at The Wark

The Ralston Medal for Excellence in Physical Chemistry at The Wark has been made possible by the generosity of the colleagues, associates and friends of Emeritus Laureate Professor John Ralston AO FAA FTSE. Professor Ralston, one of Australia's most prominent physical chemists, founded the Ian Wark Research Institute (The Wark™) and was its Director for 18 years.

The medal recognises excellence and innovation in the application of physical chemistry which benefits industry.
The medal is awarded biennially to acknowledge the most outstanding journal article in the field of physical chemistry published within the previous five years by staff or students or alumni of The Wark™. The excellence of the research contribution will be based on novelty, significance and impact as judged by the Selection Committee.

Examples of this include:

  • novelty of science - demonstration of a major advance in experimental or theoretical physical chemistry
  • impact of science and demonstrated outcomes - uptake by other scientists, citations, uptake by industry, and commercialisation.

Eligible recipients (individual or team) must be current students, graduates or staff members of The Wark™.

The publication date of the journal article should be within five years of the biennial closing date for applications.

Applications should comprise a summary statement of the research in relation to the selection criteria. A copy of the journal article should also be attached.
Value: The Ralston Medal for Excellence in Physical Chemistry at The Wark will be awarded with a cash prize of $1,000
