Publications and visual communications

We produce and support a range of publications and print material that tell the UniSA story, including the study guidesinternational handbooksannual reports and event-specific flyers and brochures. A range of these publications is available via the University publications webpage.

How CMK can help

We are also involved in sourcing images for use in various University materials and managing the University’s logo and brand and style guide
All images are available via Asset Bank. For more information about Asset Bank and appropriate use of photography visit the photography and videography webpage.
If you are interested in downloading a University logo and accessing templates, including event invitations and PowerPoint, please visit the UniSA logo page
We also have guidelines on the University use of the following:

Producing a publication

  1. Determine your objective – why do you want a publication?
  2. Define your target audience
  3. Define your budget
  4. Review our existing publication list – can you use any of these existing publications, or elements of these, instead of producing a new publication?
  5. If a new publication is required, collate the information you would like included in the document
  6. Liaise with a CMK staff member (please refer to below contact details) to determine the best approach

If you are looking for PowerPoint and word document templates, please visit the branding and style guide webpage.  These templates can be used for Unit, Division, School or Research Institute specific informational materials that are outside of CMK’s scope e.g. Annual Reports.

For business cards and letterhead, visit the stationery webpage. For printing services and quotes, liaise directly with UniPrint.

UniPrint can also help design corporate events - e.g. Business Cases, Grant Applications, documents for staff or current students etc. So they are a great first point of corporate for corporate documents such as these.

Preferred design agencies

Based on University marketing priorities agreed upon and outlined in each Division Bill of Works, there may be publication requests that CMK cannot fulfil within the required timeframe. In these cases, we will refer you to our creative agency panel for design services and support.

Creative agency panel

  • KWP! – specialising in large brand and campaign development, visual identity creation and advertising campaign concepts.
  • Fuller – specialise in broader communication strategy, copywriting services and graphic design for large publications.
  • WDM – focus on graphic design and production services for one-off, smaller publications.

When using a creative agency from our panel, we will work with you to fill in the briefing template, then liaise with the agency through the production process.

Timeframes will vary depending on the complexity of the project and how much material is complete - for example, if the content is already agreed and the project is based on an existing publication with only a few pages - and the agency has studio time available - it could take as little as a week or two to see the first draft. A brand new project where no content has been prepared could take several weeks. Please plan in advance to allow as much time as possible, to ensure a quality result.

Your CMK contact (please refer to list below) can provide advice and support to help you complete the brief.

In addition please ensure you take into consideration the time required to print and deliver items. Printing and in some cases design can then be arranged through UniPrint.

Points to consider before approaching CMK for support

  • What is your objective?
  • Who is your target audience?
  • Does an existing University publication fulfil your requirements? You could print an existing publication by liaising with UniPrint.
  • Do you have budget? Publication development and printing costs vary, depending on the complexity of design and length of document.
  • Can you use a university branded word template to fulfil your requirements?
  • Have you received support from Head of School, Research Centre Manager, PVC or Unit Director/Deputy Directors to commence this project?

Is a publication right for you?
