Family Support

It is a big decision for parents to send a child overseas to study. You are a long way from home and experiencing many things for the first time, which can be nerve-wracking and exciting for both you and your family. It’s important that you enjoy good support from your family, as well as the University, so that you can study successfully and have a happy experience.

Your first year of uni, in particular, is a time of new experiences and rapid personal growth. This brings many different changes at the same time. If your parents understand what you are going through, they can make themselves available when you need to talk. Their emotional and practical support will be very valuable as you develop self-reliance.

You can share the following information with your family so they understand your journey and how and when their support is important.
