Overview of Skype for Business

Show Menu:

  • Displays the main menu that allows you to perform various functions including signing in and signing out, updating your status, setting preferences and updating the default configuration, etc.

Presence Button/Indicator:

  • Indicates your current Presence Status (see Summary of Presence Indicators) and can be used to manually update your status, specify or create a location, and several other functions. The presence is something that is informed by Outlook calendar based on what events you have on during the day.

Availability Status:

  • Displays whether or not you are currently available.

Location Indicator:

  • Displays your current location (if a location has been specified).  Position your cursor over the Location indicator to display location text.

Type a Note:

  • Allows you to enter a Personal Note to be displayed to contacts.

Search:

  • Allows you to search for contacts by name, telephone number and email address.

Contact Lists:

  • Lists all your contacts, including recent contacts, and distribution lists or contact groups you have created.

Conversations:

  • Lists past conversations, missed messages.

Meetings:

  • Lists any meetings you have scheduled for the day, displaying Skype meetings in blue.
