Managing Senders

Mimecast for Outlook allows you to manage your list of addresses/domains blocked, permitted, and automatically allowed through. All of these options are available through the Managed Senders view.

The Managed Senders section is split into 3 sections which can be managed separately:

  1. Blocked: The sender addresses and domains that have been manually added to your blocked list (e.g. they've been flagged as spam).
  2. Permitted: The sender addresses and domains that have been manually added to your permitted list.
  3. Auto Permitted: The sender addresses and domains that are automatically added to your permitted list because you have already sent email to them.
    Managed Senders
  1. Select the Mimecast ribbon in Outlook

  2. Click Managed Senders in the Email Gateway section

Option 1: Type into the Filter by box. The list is automatically refreshed as you type.

Option 2: Click in the Show dropdown to filter the list by:

    • All
    • Addresses Only
    • Domains Only

  1. Go into the Managed Senders section of the Mimecast Ribbon
    NOTE:
    Instructions on how to install can be found here.
  2. Click Auto Permitted in the left hand pane
  3. Click Remove to the right of the required address/domain

  1. Go into the Managed Senders section of the Mimecast Ribbon
    NOTE:
    Instructions on how to install can be found here.
  2. Click Blocked in the left hand pane
  3. Click Add Blocked
  4. Type the address(es) or domain(s) into the text box
    NOTE:You can enter multiple addresses/domains by separating them with a space e.g. user1@domain.com user2@domain.com or domain.co.uk domain.co.za
  5. Click Add 
  6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for additional addresses/domains
  7. Click Block
