Voicemail on NEC telephones

By default voicemail is not active on telephones.

You are able to check to see if voicemail is on your extension through Outlook/OWA.
You are able to request voicemail activation through the Update telephone directory online form.

  1. Dial 26700
  2. Enter your PIN
    NOTE:
    If you are unsure of what your PIN is you can reset it through Outlook/OWA.
  3. Follow automated setup wizard prompts

    NOTE:
    If you are unsure of what your PIN is you can reset it through Outlook/OWA.
  3. Say Personal Options or Press 6
    NOTE: Corresponding numeric options will only work if Touchtone Interface is enabled.
  4. Say Telephone Greeting or Press 1 to turn on/off;
    OR
    Say Record Greeting or Press 2
  5. Press 1 to record a personal greeting;
    OR 
    Press 2 to record an 'Out of Office' greeting;
    OR
    Press 3 to record your name (Voice signature)
  6. Press * to cancel;
    OR 
    Press 0 to repeat the menu options

The light on the top right corner of the telephone display screen will flash.

From phone extension which is linked to voicemail:

  1. Dial 26700
  2. Enter your PIN
    NOTE:
    If you are unsure of what your PIN is you can reset it through Outlook/OWA.
  3. Follow voice prompts

From a different phone extension:

  1. Dial 26700
  2. Press *
  3. Enter your Extension Number
  4. Enter your PIN
    NOTE:
    If you are unsure of what your PIN is you can reset it through Outlook/OWA.
  5. Press #
  6. Follow voice prompts

From off campus:

  1. Dial 830 26700
  2. Enter your Extension Number
  3. Enter your PIN
    NOTE:
    If you are unsure of what your PIN is you can reset it through Outlook/OWA.
  4. Press #
  5. Follow voice prompts
  1. Dial 26700
  2. Enter your PIN
    NOTE:
    If you are unsure of what your PIN is you can reset it through Outlook/OWA.
  3. Follow voice prompts to listen to message(s)
  4. While listening to a voicemail say End or Press 33
  5. Follow voice prompts to listen to next message(s)

While listening to a voicemail either:

  • Say Slow Down or Press 4;
    OR
  • Say Faster or Press 6

You can force your voicemail PIN to be reset by trying to log in on a handset unsuccessfully 5 times (3 tries per call) and Exchange will send an email to you with a new PIN.

If the voicemail IS NOT on a shared extension or a PhD students phone you can also reset via Outlook.
