Moving Offices/Campuses

NEC VoIP phones allow staff to physically take their phones with them to a new location without losing their extension number – no matter whether they are remaining on the same campus or a completely different one. The following will assist staff through requirements depending on the scenario:

City West PBX = City West, City East, 101 Currie Street, Light Square or Mt Gambier
Mawson Lakes PBX = Mawson Lakes, Magill or Whyalla

If staff are moving with in/between any of the following locations: City West, City East, 101 Currie Street, Light Square or Mt Gambier, staff only need to follow the below steps:

  1. Complete Check Data Point Activation and/or Request Data Point Activation form(s)
  2. Complete Update Telephone Directory form
  3. Unplug computer from phone and phone from the wall point of current location and transport to new location
  4. Plug phone into wall point and computer into phone in new location
    1. When plugged back in the phone will run through its authentication process. If the phone asks for a login:
    2. Enter extension number for user name, then select OK
    3. Enter 86472 for password, then select Set
    4. The phone will complete its authentication process and once completed will function as it did at previous location

If staff are moving with in/between any of the following locations: Mawson Lakes, Magill or Whyalla, staff only need to follow the below steps:

  1. Complete Check Data Point Activation and/or Request Data Point Activation form(s)
  2. Complete Update Telephone Directory form
  3. Unplug computer from phone and phone from the wall point of current location and transport to new location
  4. Plug phone into wall point and computer into phone in new location
    1. When plugged back in the phone will run through its authentication process. If the phone asks for a login:
    2. Enter extension number for user name, then select OK
    3. Enter 86472 for password, then select Set
    4. The phone will complete its authentication process and once completed will function as it did at previous location
  • City West PBX = City East, City West, 101 Currie Street, Light Square or Mt Gambier
  • Mawson Lakes PBX = Mawson Lakes, Magill or Whyalla

Staff will require assistance from the IT Help Desk in order to retain their extension number after they move. They will need to complete the below steps in numerical order (this is imperative to ensuring no loss of service) and wait for confirmation that the request has been completed before commencing the next step:

  1. Complete Check Data Point Activation and/or Request Data Point Activation form(s) for their new office location
  2. Complete Moving between PBXs form NOTE: If have move than 5 phones being moved at the same time you can complete a bulk move form. 1 to 5 phones being moved you will need to complete the Moving between PBXs that number of times.
  3. Unplug computer from phone and phone from the wall point of current location and transport to new location
  4. Plug phone into wall point and computer into phone in new location
  5. When plugged back in the phone will run through its authentication process. If the phone asks for a login:
    1. Enter extension number for user name, then select OK
    2. Enter 86472 for password, then select Set
    3. The phone will complete its authentication process and once completed will function as it did at previous location
