Network & Internet

Important:

The use of all Information Technology (IT) facilities at the University of South Australia, including the UniSA wired and wireless networks, is subject to the University's Acceptable use of Information Technology (IT) facilities policy

UniSA staff and students can access both the wired and wireless networks using their UniSA credentials (username and password).  Connecting to the UniSA network provides internet access, access to UniSA resources and some applications.

On-Campus:  UniSA owned PCs are set up in various on-campus locations such as offices, libraries, computer pools/barns, lecture theatres, etc; can be used to access the UniSA wired network and wireless capable device can be used to connect to the UniSA wireless network.

Off-Campus:  While away from the University the UniSA network can be accessed through a Virtual Private Network (VPN), and an internet connection can be established via the eduroam wireless network (if visiting a participating Eduroam partner institution).

It is the individual's responsibility to source a reliable internet connection when not currently situated on a UniSA campus.

If you are currently on a participating eduroam partner institution you could connect to eduroam. Otherwise you will need to connect to another wireless network.

To access a SharePoint teamsite when working off-site you will need:

  • Connection to the internet
  • Valid and active UniSA network account (username and password)
  • The required permission within the teamsite you are accessing
  • The URL of the SharePoint site your wishing to access
NOTE: The IT Help Desk does not have a list of all available SharePoint sites and they recommend you save it as a Staff Portal my Link.

You do not need to establish a Virtual Private Network to connect to a UniSA SharePoint teamsite when working away from the University as the data that is transferred will be encrypted.

Your internet connection can be via your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or via the eduroam wireless network if you are working from a participating eduroam partner institution.
