The following units are not acceptable as electives within the Bachelor of Accounting program:

BLW14 Business Law
BLW15 Contract Law
CIS13 Information Systems Fundamentals
COM12 Business Communications
COM21 Management Communication
COM31 Organisational Communication
FIN208 Corporate Finance
HEA110 Human Health
IBA105 Introduction to International Business
SSK12 Introduction to University Learning

 

Recommended Elective Units

ECO12 Macroeconomics 1
MAN15 Issues in Small Business Management
ACG25 Cost Management Systems
ACG26 Government and Not-for-Profit Accounting
EHS200 Foundations of Human Resource Management
PHI230 Business and Professional Ethics

 

Students must complete five elective units. These can be taken from any discipline area however their content must not be comparable to the foundation or core units. Students may also wish to select from the table of 'Recommended Elective Units' provided.

Students wishing to undertake any elective unit not listed as a 'Recommended Elective Unit' must obtain approval by emailing the OUA Student Advisors at UniSA (busoua@unisa.edu.au) before enrolling.

Students who complete alternative electives without prior written approval from UniSA may not be granted credit towards the degree when applying to graduate.

To qualify for the Bachelor of Accounting from University of South Australia, students must meet all of the following requirements:

  • A student must complete 24 units
  • A student must complete 18 set units (From 2014 a student must complete 19 set units)
  • A student must complete 6 elective units (From 2014 a student must complete 5 elective units)
  • A student must complete at least 8 units through University of South Australia
