Provide First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training

For most UniSA health programs and courses, Provide First Aid training and annual Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) updates are compulsory requirements to attend clinical placement. Please refer to your student checklist to determine your requirements.

Students should ensure they enrol and complete training courses with a registered and nationally recognised training organisation (RTO). The course must include both practical and theoretical components. Please visit training.gov.au to verify that your training provider is an RTO.

If you have a training qualification that includes CPR or Provide First Aid, please submit it to the CPU Office for assessment.

HLTAID003 - Provide First Aid (minimum requirement) OR updated equivalent HLTAID011 Provide first aid
HLTAID004 - Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting OR updated equivalent HLTAID012 Provide first aid in an education and care setting
HLTAID005 - Provide first aid in remote situations / Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) OR updated equivalent HLTAID013 Provide first aid in remote or isolated site

Completing the Provide First Aid qualifications listed above also includes 12 months validity for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) requirements. Please submit your Statement of Attainment to InPlace (login required) under both the Provide First Aid and CPR Update sections to be verified.

What is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO)?

Registered training organisations (RTOs) are training providers that are registered by Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) or, in some cases, a state regulator, to deliver vocational education and training (VET) services. RTOs are recognised as providers of quality-assured and nationally recognised training and qualifications. Only RTOs can deliver nationally recognised courses and accredited Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) VET qualifications, as required by national and jurisdictional legislation within Australia.
