The University Seal

The University SealThe use of the University of South Australia seal (the ‘common seal’) is governed by section 13A of the University of South Australia Act (1990).

The seal is used to certify a variety of documents such as parchments, memoranda of understanding, agreements and other legal documents.

The seal is held in Chancellery by the Director of Council Services and Chancellery.

The seal may only be affixed to a document where there is a resolution of Council to that effect.

Where the seal is affixed to an academic award, it must be witnessed by the Chancellor or the Vice Chancellor. Where the seal is affixed to any other document it must be witnessed by both the Chancellor (or nominee) and the Vice Chancellor (or nominee).
