The University of South Australia recognises disability is a part of human diversity and aspires to create an inclusive and equitable environment that supports full access and participation in all aspects of university life. In support of our ongoing commitment to inclusion, we are pleased to release the draft Staff with Disability Policy and Workplace Adjustment Procedure for wider consultation. The development of the Policy and Procedure has been benchmarked against policies in the higher education and public sectors, is based on current relevant legislation and contemporary inclusion principles, and where appropriate, built on the approved UniSA Students with Disabilities Policy.
In 2021, consultation was undertaken with members of the Advisory Group that developed the Students with Disabilities Policy, and senior staff. The feedback was positive and informed a series of amendments to the draft Policy, Students with Disabilities Policy, and senior staff.
In 2022, People, Talent and Culture invited further feedback on the draft Policy and Procedure from the Disability Employee Advisory Network, from Academic Unit Executive Deans and General Managers, Pro Vice Chancellors, Unit Directors, and the Safety and Wellbeing Committee.
A new draft Staff with Disability Policy and Workplace Adjustment Procedure have been developed and are now available for all staff to review and provide feedback. The new draft Staff with Disability Policy and Workplace Adjustment Procedure seeks to reflect our commitment as a university to providing an inclusive and enabling environment in which to work and study.
