These workshops help you rethink your tutorials and refresh them for online synchronous settings (i.e., Zoom). Whether you are excited about teaching online, or wish you were excited and want to be inspired, these workshops are for you.
Through these workshops, you will experience first-hand a variety of tools and Zoom features that you can use to engage learners in your courses. You will be guided to think intentionally about your tutorials and workshop with peers to plan online versions that are interactive and productive. Through dialogue with colleagues and TIU staff, you will explore engaging and contextually relevant ways to teach your content online.
There are two versions of the workshop – one for course coordinators, the other for tutors. Details below.
Course-coordinator
Designed for academics who have control over what and how the content is taught in tutorials. The aim of the session is to think intentionally about the purpose of your tutorials and how you can achieve that in online settings, and to dialogue with peers as you workshop one of your tutorials.
Tutor
For casual and other tutoring staff who may have some or no university teaching experience and are given direction regarding the content and how to run their tutorials. The aim of the session is to think about how you can be a good teacher in an online setting and to experience tools and features you can use in your tutorials.
The workshops are 1.5 hours in length and will be held completely online via Zoom.
