Commitment

Both parties in the mentoring relationships must complete a Mentoring Agreement and must be prepared to stay in contact for the duration of the Business Careers Mentor Program.

It is essential that both parties understand and discuss their separate expectations for the program. Mentees will participate in a Training and Preparation session to develop a series of goals that will help direct and focus the meetings. It is important that you discuss with your mentee and agree on the purpose of the mentoring partnership and how it will work in practice.

Whilst every effort is made to match appropriate mentees and mentors, if interests and areas of expertise do not coincide, both need to take responsibility for having an open mind and consider how they might still work together to achieve a positive outcome. This can be a great opportunity to broaden perspectives and 'look outside the square'.

Mentees have committed to 6 meetings with their mentor for the duration of the program. This may be face to face, online, (Skype, email etc), telephone or a combination of these options. Mentees have been made aware that flexibility is crucial in order to allow for busy workloads and unexpected commitments. It is strongly advised that guidance for rescheduling or cancelling meetings is established at your first meeting.

No Warranty

The role of the mentor is voluntary and will vary according to the individuals involved, and the goals. Neither the mentor nor UniSA warrant that a particular outcome will necessarily be achieved and neither UniSA nor any mentor has any liability to any mentee in respect of any failure by the mentee to achieve any particular goal or desired outcome.
