When balancing study, work, and a social life, it's easy to see how sleep can start to look like an optional extra for a uni student.
Here are some good reasons for why it's a smart idea to make sleep your wellbeing priority now as you head into SP5:
- Sleep is essential to achieving good physical and mental health, and helps you to cope with the stresses of everyday life.
- It
also gives your brain energy to protect you from anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses.
- It's been shown that sleep directly impacts your academia - yep, students that get enough sleep perform better in their grades than those who go without zzz's on a regular basis. Get into a good routine early to support yourself all the way through to exams.
So, what are the top tips?
- Ditch all screens (or at least use a blue-light filter) one hour before bed.
- Don't go to bed on a full stomach, but don't go to bed hungry either - time your meals.
- Get sunlight during the day - this will help regulate your sleep at night.
