Learning hacks to help you remember better for exams
Exams are fast approaching and to help you study more effectively, UniSA’s memory expert Dr. Alex Chatburn and fellow UniSA students share some great strategies that will help you increase your learning efficiency.

• Sleep plays a key role as it helps to solidify knowledge.
• Aim to understand the content instead of memorising it - this helps with memory consolidation.
• Fast-mapping approaches are highly effective as our brain wants to associate things. Put things in pairs - recall one element of the pair and test yourself on what the second is.

It’s also beneficial to find out your learning styles and choose the most effective study methods.
For auditory learners (use hearing abilities to study): explain the topics you learn by talking out loud or to a friend
For visual learners (learn through graphics and images): write key points on flash cards with graphics
For kinesthetic learners (use multi-sensory learning experiences): incorporate both methods
