Look after yourself and practise self-compassion during this busy period
It’s okay to feel a bit worried about exams and assignments. Below are some tips from the UniSA Counselling team on how to manage your studies and emotions during this time.

If you are confused and scared of multiple assessments: Let your tutor or course coordinator know and ask for their support. Talk with your classmates as they may have similar questions. You can also book an appointment with an Academic Learning Adviser.

If you are feeling unmotivated or disappointed with your studies this semester: Motivation can take a hit after a negative experience and towards the end of the year. Adjusting to changes (such as moving to a new country or university) takes time, often longer than we anticipate. Try taking some time for yourself to do something you enjoy. Consider booking a counselling session to talk about your experience.

If you are struggling with procrastination and feeling stressed: A good approach is to focus on one thing at a time so you don’t get overwhelmed. Mindfulness can be effective in reducing stress and enhancing concentration. Start by trying some of the mindfulness practices on our Mindfulness and Meditation page.

If you need extra support during exam time, make sure you plan ahead and book an appointment with the Counselling team early as appointments do fill up fast during this period.
