The establishment of Adelaide University
On 8 March, we celebrated a landmark moment in the shared histories of the University of South Australia and the University of Adelaide with the new combined Adelaide University established under the Adelaide University Act 2023.

Our next chapter is a significant one, but there are still many steps ahead until we open our doors to the new university in January 2026.

The University of South Australia and the University of Adelaide and will continue to operate as they currently do, and you’ll be fully supported as we move through the transition horizon. There are no current impacts to your studies, but please contact Campus Central if you have any questions.

Hear insights from the 'Closing the Gap, A Conversation' event
Closing the Gap is an important government strategy to overcome the entrenched inequality of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and improve their life outcomes. The strategy outlines 17 socio-economic targets in areas such as health, education, employment, housing, community, culture and safety and wellbeing. Since its establishment in 2007, only four out of the 17 targets were on track as of July last year, with outcomes for another 11 targets improving, and yet there’s still much work to be done.

At our recent ‘Closing the Gap, A Conversation’ event, we heard from Aboriginal Elders Uncle Frank, Aunty Lynette and Aunty Rosslyn about their experiences and views on health disparities, education, and changes resulting from Aboriginal people's continued strength and resilience. Watch the event recording to hear their insightful perspectives and educate yourself on these matters.
