Student Volunteer of the Year Award

The University of South Australia Student Volunteer of the Year Award recognises current students who have made a significant contribution to the wider community and/or campus life through volunteering.  

The award recipient will receive: 

  • A $1,000 voucher 
  • A certificate 
  • A profile on UniSA and USASA social media and the Volunteering SA&NT Vitality E-newsletter 
  • An invitation to the student recognition OPAL (Outstanding Participation, Achievement and Leadership) Gala
  • A recognition on your Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement (AHEGS) and transcript 

You may also be invited to participate in other media profiles and interviews, and represent UniSA at volunteering-related public speaking engagements.

Selection criteria:

You need to:

  • Demonstrate your impact on campus and/or community through your volunteering
  • Articulate how volunteering has impacted you 
  • Demonstrate outstanding volunteering service  
  • Provide up to two references to support application 

A selection panel will review applications against the selection criteria. An interview may be required if there is a large number of strong nominations.  

Eligibility criteria:

This award is open to all current UniSA students, including Research and UniSA Online students.

Key dates:

  • 7 September – Applications close (5:00pm ACST) 
  • 24 September – Judging panel convenes 
  • 1 October – Finalists contacted and invited to the OPAL Gala 
  • 27 October – Winner announced at the OPAL Gala
