The South Australian Government has demonstrated its continuing commitment to our international student community by funding the International Student Support Package. 

This grant is to assist international students currently living and studying in South Australia who are facing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  It is a payment to assist students with living expenses.

If you are an international student living (and studying onshore) in South Australia, you can apply for funds up to $500 per student, providing you are:

  • living in South Australia
  • experiencing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic
  • currently studying at UniSA, or
  • a pathway student with a UniSA offer, currently completing studies at one of our partner education providers (listed below):
  • SAIBT
  • Eynesbury
  • CELUSA
  • TAFE SA

FAQs

The International Student Support Package (COVID-19) has been set up by the South Australian Government to assist international students currently living and studying in South Australia who are facing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The grant is a $500 payment designed to assist students with living expenses.

To be eligible for the International Student Support Package (COVID-19) grant, students must:

  • Be an international student living (and currently onshore) in South Australia
  • Be experiencing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Be currently studying at UniSA; or
  • A pathway student with a UniSA offer, currently completing their studies at one of our partner education providers – these include:
  • SAIBT
  • Eynesbury
  • CELUSA
  • TAFE SA

International students who are currently living and studying onshore in South Australia may be awarded the $500 payment if they can demonstrate that they are facing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of the application process, students will need to provide a bank statement showing the last month in order to be issued the payment.

The International Student Support Package (COVID-19) grant will be awarded on the basis of:

  • A completed application
  • Demonstrated hardship directly related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

I am a UniSA international pathway student enrolled with TAFE or Eynesbury

  • Your application will be assessed.
  • UniSA will notify you of the outcome. This will usually be within 10 business days of receiving the application and supporting documentation. 
  • If support services, other than the International Student Support Package (COVID-19) grant you have applied for, are more appropriate for your circumstances you will be notified accordingly and referred to the alternate service.
  • If you meet the eligibility criteria, and your application is approved, the grant will be issued to you.

Applications for this fund will be managed in order of completed application received (that is, completed applications that are submitted first will be assessed first). We are aiming to provide outcomes to all applicants within 10 business days of submitting a completed application.

The University will ensure that all applications made to the International Student Support Package (COVID-19) will be managed in accordance with the University of South Australia’s Privacy Policy and the Confidentiality of Students' Personal Information Policy. The privacy and confidentiality of student’s personal circumstances will be maintained at all times.

Yes, if you have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and require support, then you can apply to the International Student Support Package grant.

No. These funds are designed to provide financial relief to cover living costs for those students impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, an application for a reduction or waiver of fees will not be considered. Information about tuition fee assistance for students currently studying at UniSA can be found here.

UniSA is committed to providing you with an outcome within 10 business days (this excludes weekends and public holidays). If you haven’t had a response yet, please check 10 business days have passed since you submitted your completed application (10 days excluding weekends and public holidays).

Yes. If you have already received a grant from the International Student Support Package (COVID-19) in a previous application round and can demonstrate that you are still experiencing significant financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic then you are eligible to apply again.
