Living in a new country can be a daunting experience as you adjust to a new environment, a different culture and a different way of life. Hosted by a team of Australian and international UniSA students, these workshops will assist you with settling into and enjoying life in Adelaide.  

Workshop 1: How are you going, mate?

This workshop focuses on settling into life in Adelaide and Australia, how to make social connections and link in with the wider community. It is a great opportunity to learn about the city you will be living in and also to make new friends.

Workshop 2: Take care, mate

This workshop focuses on taking care of your wellbeing. Guest speakers from UniSA Medical Clinic, Counselling, Access and Inclusion and BUPA Overseas Student Health Cover will explore the Australian health system and UniSA student support services. You will have a clear idea about where to go, what to do, who to ask help from and how to access health and wellbeing support services.

Workshop 3: Fair go, mate

This workshop focuses on work rights and responsibilities in Australia. Guest speakers will explain the basic rules for tax and working in Australia, including minimum wage, international students' work rights and responsibilities, workplace health and safety, and how to deal with unfair practices.

Workshop 4: Get a job, mate

This workshop is designed for international students planning to remain in Australia after graduation. A guest speaker from Migration SA will present about transitioning to Permanent Residency. A UniSA Career Adviser will guide you to develop your career plan, writing a cover letter, resume, responding to selection criteria and how to navigate a graduate job interview.
