UniSA is committed to building a culture of respect and inclusivity in which everyone can feel safe. Training is a key part of the University’s zero tolerance approach to sexual assault and sexual harassment and is part of a range of initiatives designed to strengthen the University’s culture, policies and practices.
Consent Matters: Boundaries, Respect and Positive Intervention is an online education module developed by a collaboration of academics based in the UK and Australia. The course is designed to help you understand sexual consent and, through a range of interactive activities and scenarios, strengthen your understanding of:
At UniSA we have a strong culture of tolerance, inclusion and respect and it is important that we all understand these values and work together towards maintaining a respectful and inclusive culture in which everyone feels safe and supported. Through training and education, we will be able to promote social change and help prevent inappropriate behaviour in our University. Even if you think you’ve got a good grasp on this topic, it doesn’t hurt to learn more skills and strategies to contribute to building a university culture which is safe for everyone.
Consent Matters is an online course consisting of short videos, scripts and activities. It will take approximately one hour to complete the training program.
The University recognises that creating safe communities is a shared responsibility and we therefore encourage all students to complete this course. We are committed to empowering everyone in the University community to understand consent and recognise difficult situations, and ‘Consent Matters’ is our first step towards promoting safer campuses.
The training is compulsory for some students and you will be notified by email if the training is compulsory for you.
All UniSA students and staff will be able to enrol and complete the module from 3 April 2018. You must enrol in the Consent Matters module in order to complete the training. Please follow the instructions for enrolling, below:
The module takes about an hour to complete, but you don’t have to do it all in one go. You can log in at any time and pick up where you left off.
