What is a secondary assessment?

A secondary assessment is applied for when there are unexpected or exceptional circumstance that affected your performance or ability to attend your exam or submit your final assessment by the due date.

Depending on the circumstances of an Application for Secondary Assessment one of the following outcomes will be advised:

  • the approval to sit an alternative/ replacement assessment
  • the approval to sit an alternative/replacement exam
  • an adjustment to the mark to make allowance for the unexpected or exceptional circumstances
  • an extension of time to complete the assessment
  • no action (ie the original grade will stand)

If you are granted a secondary assessment you can view the secondary assessment type next to the original enrolment on myUniSA. You will also receive a confirmation letter or email from Campus Central.
