Information Security

An IT Security Incident is defined as any action or event in contravention of the provisions of the Information Security Policy; actions or events that contravene the provisions of policy established by organisations of which UniSA is a member (eg. AUSCERT, AARNet); and/or actions or events deemed a security incident or breach by State or Federal Police organisations.

Examples of IT Security Incidents include but are not limited to:

Not keeping the University network secure could result in:

    • Data theft: Hackers accessing staff or student personal or confidential details;
    • Data loss: Unauthorised entities manipulating or deleting important data;
    • Law suits against the University;
    • Loss of reputation; and
    • Financial loss including recovery expenses.
