Top tips for moving out of your accommodation
Planning on moving out of your current accommodation? Here are some top tips to make sure your transition goes as smoothly as possible.

• Prepare for your exit inspection by cleaning your residence thoroughly and leaving it in the condition you found it, otherwise you may lose some or all of your bond for cleaning fees and repairs.

• If you're staying in a rental property, disconnect all utilities (electricity, gas, water, phone and internet) or forward them to your new address. You don't need to worry about this if you're staying in a shared or student accommodation.

• Once the exit inspection has been completed and you have agreed on the amount of bond money to be refunded, claim your bond refund as soon as possible after vacating the property.

If you are worried about being evicted from your accommodation due to your inability to pay rent as a result of COVID-19, you should contact Consumer and Business Services for advice and support.
