DIVISION 88 TRANSPORT
This division covers R&D directed towards improving the efficiency, safety and utility of transport systems for moving freight, passengers or livestock by ground, water, air or any combinations of these (e.g. sea-air transport) or by any other means.
It includes:
- transport safety;
- oceanic currents and processes that impinge on sea safety or navigation;
- transport services and transport support services;
- transport infrastructure; and
- environmental sustainability of transport activities.
This division has five groups.
Group 8801 Ground Transport
This group covers R&D directed towards improving the efficiency, safety and utility of ground transport.
It includes:
- road passenger or freight transport, including taxis;
- long or short distance bus transport, including tramways;
- railway transport;
- freight transport by road or rail;
- parking services;
- toll roads and bridges, weighbridges and other road infrastructure;
- container terminals and punt operations;
- rail infrastructure; and
- road safety.
