What does an external person to UniSA get once I have shared a file/folder through OneDrive with them?

The UniSA's IT Help Desk support covers only UniSA Staff and Students. They are unable to assist external parties trying to access files/folders shared from a UniSA account. If an external party contacts the UniSA IT Help Desk they will be directed to contact their direct IT Support. 

The below are basic steps to offer guidance and are subject to Microsoft and their security processes. UniSA has no control over these and may change at Microsoft's discretion.

  1. OneDrive sends email to recipient (from no-reply@sharepointonline.com) similar to the one below in Step 2.
  2. They click to Open the file/folder

  3. They will be taken to their default web browser where they are asked to Send a Verification Code to their email address listed in the sharing.

  4. They will be sent an Account verification code email (from no-reply@sharepointonline.com) similar to the below.

  5. They will need to return to their previous browser session to Enter Verification Code.

  6. They will then see the file online or folder content.
