The inaugural 2025 UniSA Award for Academic Integrity
Recognition of outstanding contributions to academic integrity by individuals or teams who advance the quality of teaching and the assurance of awards.
We’re excited to announce a new UniSA award to recognise the exceptional role UniSA staff play in maintaining academic integrity.
Our staff are the foundation of Academic Integrity serving as the main interpreters and implementers of policies and procedures, while ensuring UniSA’s educational excellence. This award celebrates your dedication to upholding the principles that define our university.
There are two award categories, with one prize awarded for each category ($5,000 each).
- Network Member Award for UniSA Academic Integrity Network members for their specialised contributions
- Educational Initiatives Award for staff who consistently advance and implement academic integrity at UniSA
We encourage all UniSA staff to take this opportunity to reflect on their contribution and the impact they have on student learning.
Network Member Award
Individuals or teams may be nominated or self-nominate. The application must be written in plain language.
The areas of specialised contributions in academic integrity could include but are not limited to innovations and enhancements in:
- Academic Unit education and peer support
- Systems and processes
- Educative approach to academic misconduct
- Student and staff well-being
Applicants must submit a concise statement (of no more than 400 words) that addresses at least one of the following criteria, and how UniSA core attributes have been demonstrated:
- Stakeholder impact: Development of an innovative contribution that provides measurable benefit to diverse stakeholders including academic units, students, Academic Integrity Officers or other university community members.
- Scalability and reach: Development of a novel/ innovative approach that can be effectively scaled and implemented across multiple academic units, university wide or within the broader higher education sector.
- Process and systems: Development of an innovative improvement to UniSA processes or systems for managing academic misconduct cases which results in reducing future academic misconduct.
- Student engagement: Development of an innovative contribution that demonstrably improves and enhances student engagement with, and increases knowledge of, academic integrity principles and practices at UniSA.
- Educational excellence: Development of an innovative contribution that improves education of academic integrity for students or staff.
Your concise (400 words or less) statement should clearly identify which criterion your nomination addresses and how it has been validated.
Eligibility criteria
- Nominations must focus on outstanding contributions to academic integrity at UniSA.
- Only UniSA staff members are eligible to apply for the award.
- Nominations are open to academic and professional staff.
- Nominees must prepare a submission that includes a written statement and relevant supporting documentation.
- The work that is cited in the nomination must have been completed by a UniSA staff member in the calendar year immediately preceding the award application closing date.
Educational Initiatives Award
Individuals or teams may be nominated or self-nominate. The application must be written in plain language.
The areas of specialised contributions in academic integrity could include but are not limited to innovations and enhancements in:
- Academic Unit education and peer support
- Systems and processes
- Educative approach to academic misconduct
- Student and staff well-being
Applicants must submit a concise statement (of no more than 400 words) that addresses at least one of the following criteria, and how UniSA core attributes have been demonstrated:
- Stakeholder impact: Development of an innovative educational initiatives that provides measurable learning benefits to diverse stakeholders including, students across different academic levels, teaching staff, Academic Integrity Officers or other university community members.
- Scalability and reach: Development of an innovative approach that can be effectively adapted and implemented across multiple academic units, university wide or within the broader higher education sector.
- Teaching innovation: Development of a teaching initiative or approach that improves how academic integrity is taught, learned or reinforced a UniSA.
- Student engagement: Development of an innovative initiative that demonstrably improves student engagement with academic integrity learning and enhances the knowledge of academic integrity principles and strengthens application of these principles.
- Educational excellence: Development of program or resource or other initiative that advances academic integrity education for students or staff resulting in improved knowledge, skills or behavioural outcome.

How to apply
All submissions will be reviewed by a judging panel.
The time period for the activities being nominated is during the 12 months prior to the closing date of the award (24 October 2025).
