Induction: Academic Practice@UniSA 

Academic Practice@UniSA was introduced at the beginning of 2014 for all new academic staff (levels A-C) who are employed at UniSA in continuing positions or on fixed-term contracts (12 months or more). Academic Practice@UniSA replaces the Professional Certificate in Academic Practice as the mandated, probation-related activity for new academic staff. There are no exemptions.

 

Teaching@UniSA

This program provides an introduction and overview of teaching and learning at UniSA, good practice principles in assessment, Universal learning design, technology enhanced learning, learnonline, evaluating teaching, and the scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

 

 

Teaching@UniSA 
is a 1-day program that is held 3 times a year.

Research@UniSA

This program, run by the UniSA Research Office (UniSA RO), covers UniSA's research environment, Australia Code of Ethical Conduct, and applying for research grant.

is a 1-day program that is held twice a year.

Supervising@UniSA

This program is the University’s induction program for the supervisors of Higher Degree by research candidates. The workshop is in two parts.  The first is compulsory for all academic staff new to research supervision or to research supervision at UniSA, while the second part is required of those who have not yet supervised a doctoral candidate to successful completion.

Supervising@UniSA is a blended program.

Information

Staff will be required to complete different components of Academic Practice@UniSA depending on their role (see requirements table below). Staff will be required to complete the program within their first year of employment and completion of the program will continue to be tied to probation. Casual staff may be requested by their Executive Dean/Director to complete the program (or elements of the program) based on their type of teaching and level of responsibility.

Transition arrangements

Teaching@UniSA

  1. Staff who have completed Yr 1 and Yr 2 of the Teaching@UniSA components of PCAP will be granted Teaching@UniSA
  2. Staff who have completed Yr 1 of Teaching@UniSA will be required to undertake Day 2 of the new Teaching@UniSA program
  3. Staff who were identified to undertake PCAP and have only done one half day of Teaching@UniSA or nothing will be required to do the new Teaching@UniSA program in full.

 

Research@UniSA

  1. Staff who have completed Yr 1 and Yr 2 of the Research@UniSA components of the PCAP will be awarded the Research@UniSA
  2. Staff who have completed Yr 1 only will need to complete the new Research@UniSA.

 

Supervising@UniSA

No change.
