The aim of this course is to provide students with foundational knowledge on how to teach in an online environment.

Course Objectives

  1. Understand the key characteristics of effective online learning and teaching
  2. Outline approaches for building an online community of learning
  3. Learn how to use multiple means of engagement and how to create meaningful activities
  4. Develop skills using current software to assist you with teaching online
  5. Review and reflect on your own teaching practices and experiences

How is the course run?

This course is run over two-weeks and it is to be completed at your own pace, in your own time during those two weeks. There will also be two synchronous sessions that we encourage you to attend. On the Monday of week 1 (10am) we will be holding a short welcome Zoom meeting to introduce you to the course along with what is expected of you and what you can expect of us. On the Friday of week 2 we will hold another Zoom session where we will discuss the course content and your teaching journey moving forward.
