Academic Integrity Officers

Academic Integrity Officers (AIO) are attached to their academic units and have responsibility to oversee each case of suspected academic misconduct. If a staff member (lecturer or tutor) suspects that a student has committed academic misconduct as defined in Academic Integrity Policy (AB 69) the staff member should report the issue to the relevant academic integrity officer via the Academic Unit Central Academic Integrity mailbox (see list of academic integrity officers and email below).

The Process for Academic Integrity Officers flowchart  is an overview of the processes in the  Academic Integrity Procedure (AB 69 P1).

AIOs facilitate:

  • The consistent interpretation and implementation of policy
  • The initial management of all reported cases of academic misconduct
  • The interpretation and use of Turnitin
  • The making of judgements in all reported cases of academic misconduct
  • The determination of outcomes in cases where academic misconduct is established
  • The regular reporting of academic integrity matters to relevant Executive Deans, Unit boards and teaching and learning committees.
