Graduation
Congratulations! Qualifying for a degree from the University of South Australia is a major achievement and we look forward to welcoming you, your family and friends at your graduation ceremony.
Now that you are graduating, your access to UniSA systems will change. Information about changes to your UniSA systems access can be found here.
For questions about any content on this page please refer to research.examinations@unisa.edu.au
Once your final thesis has been fully approved, Student and Academic Services (SAS) will check that you have met all the requirements for the award of the degree. SAS will submit your name and the title of your thesis to the Research Degrees Committee (RDC) for formal approval.
Before your award can be conferred you must verify your name and the name of your award in myParchment. You can access myParchment by logging into myGraduation.
Once you have been recorded in the student system as having completed all of the requirements of your program you will be issued with a completion transcript. Following conferral of your award at a Council meeting you will be issued with a conferral transcript. A notification will be sent to your UniSA student email account to let you know when these documents are available via My eQuals.
When RDC has given formal approval, SAS will recommend to University Council that your award can be formally conferred. University Council will then ratify the conferral of your degree (usually at the next Council meeting).
The official date of the conferral of your degree is the date of approval by University Council. Your parchment may either be collected from Campus Central City West, located on Level 2 of the Jeffrey Smart building, or sent out to you any time from then on. You may begin to use the title 'Dr' at any time after this point.
You may also choose to receive your parchment at your graduation ceremony if you choose to attend and you have not received your parchment beforehand.
Please note: If the date of approval by the RDC or University Council is very close to the date of the next graduation ceremony (within approximately six weeks) you may receive your written advice and/or transcripts at the same time.
UniSA normally holds three rounds of graduation ceremonies each year. For more information, go to Schedule of Ceremonies.
You will be invited to register to attend a graduation ceremony via an email to your UniSA student email account. It is important that you check your student email account regularly to ensure you receive these communications. You can register to attend a ceremony by logging into myGraduation and recording your attendance preferences. Once you have registered to attend your ceremony, you should carefully read the myInformation section of myGraduation for important information about the ceremony as well as the arrangements for hire of your academic dress.
If you would like your parchment mailed to you you can select this preference in myGraduation. More details about parchments can be found here.
