Gavin Wanganeen Aboriginal MBA Scholarship

The Gavin Wanganeen Aboriginal MBA Scholarship is awarded to Aboriginal Australians who are undertaking the UniSA MBA Program.

The MBA course fees of recipients will be waived 100% by the University in an arrangement whereby 50% of the normal MBA course fee will be offset by the University, and 50% will be offset from funds generated by Gavin Wanganeen Scholarship appeals.

Scholarship applicants must meet the UniSA MBA program entry requirements and have completed an MBA application (submitted in conjunction with scholarship application) which will be assessed by the MBA and Executive Team following usual admission processes.

Applicants should complete and return the Aboriginal MBA Scholarship Application Form and Terms of Agreement (including a 300-word statement on suitability for the scholarship) available from https://study.unisa.edu.au/mba/mba-partnership-scholarships/

The scholarship recognises current or emerging Aboriginal leaders, with the financial support hastening commencement and completion of a postgraduate qualification thereby providing a boost to the recipients’ career prospects and progress.

For each recipient, the total value of the scholarship is $54,000 based on 2021 fees of $4,500 per MBA course.

The scholarship value will be updated annually in line with any increases in course fees. Where a recipient undertakes elective courses in the MBA that carry additional costs to normal UniSA course fees, the recipient will be responsible to pay those additional costs, including but not limited to:

  • Company Directors Course: payment of AICD membership fees.
  • International Study Tour/s: travel costs to and from the tour location.

Employers have no obligation to financially contribute to an employee’s course costs of undertaking the MBA program, however employers are required to provide a statement to UniSA verifying they support the application and will aid the employee in non-financial ways, including:

  • Facilitating their employee, as best as possible, to attend classes and complete their study obligations, including allowances for study time to complete courses assessments.
  • Pairing their employee with in-house mentors/sponsors to assist them in completing the MBA program.
  • Working with the employee to develop a post-MBA career pathway.

Shortlisted applicants are required to attend a selection panel interview.

Peter McInnes Memorial Travel Grant

The Peter McInnes Memorial Travel Grant will be awarded to UniSA Business postgraduate students participating in the Executive Partners Program who are successful in their application to join the College of William and Mary intensive global exchange experience.

The grant honours Peter McInnes and his commitment to developing graduates for global professional careers through his leadership of the Academic Units Executive Partners Program (EPP).

The College of William and Mary is one of only eight public "Ivy League Universities". It is the second oldest College in the US, and is one of the highest ranked universities in the country. It is located in Williamsburg, Virginia, United States.

The exchange will be an intensive three-week global experience, usually scheduled between October-November each year, at the College of William and Mary in the Mason School of Business.

The travel grant provides financial assistance towards the costs of travel and living expenses associated with the three-week exchange. Students will not need to pay tuition fees at the College of William and Mary.

Recipients of the travel grant will not normally be eligible to apply for other short-term study, placement or study tour travel grants available through the University.

Applicants are required to provide a written statement (300-500 words maximum) addressing the following:

  • How the exchange fits within their current program.
  • How the exchange would contribute to their future career prospects and personal development.
  • What they would like to achieve by undertaking this exchange.
  • What attributes they possess that make them an ideal ambassador for UniSA Business and UniSA – Australia’s University of Enterprise.

To receive the grants, applicants must demonstrate a passion for their program, strong motivation to succeed, have clear future goals and be willing to act as an ambassador for the EPP.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend a selection panel interview, and the panel's decision will be final.
