Metro Campus Scholarships

The University of South Australia Scholarship for Student Leadership is available to students interested in enhancing the overall student experience at UniSA. The scholarship recipient will have the unique opportunity to collaborate with the Student Life team to provide innovative and meaningful experiences for students at UniSA.

The recipient will also be given the chance to participate in activities that focus on developing leadership and employability skills, whilst also contributing to UniSA’s mission to provide an outstanding student experience. Activities the recipient may take part in throughout the duration of the scholarship include:

  1. Providing advice, support and feedback regarding Student Life activities and programs.
  2. Contributing to the planning, coordination and implementation of Student Life projects or events.
  3. Recruiting and leading other students to volunteer and provide feedback on the above tasks, where appropriate. 

Successful recipients will also be required to:

  • Participate in the UniSA+ Award and the ASPIRE Program, the University’s student leadership and self-development programs. Participating in these programs will assist students to develop their leadership skills and perform optimally in this scholarship role.
  • deliver a final report related to their specified activity.

Applicants are required to provide a written statement (maximum 500 words) detailing:

  • A brief on your proposal of your initiative to enhance the student experience at UniSA.

And briefly describe your:

  • Demonstrated ability to show initiative and work autonomously.
  • Level of passion for enhancing the student experience at UniSA and a willingness to be a leader in achieving this goal.
  • Excellent communication skills and a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to commit to agreed hours per week during relevent Study Periods.
  • Previous experience in planning, promoting, and delivering events, or experience in creating marketing and communications materials.
  • Willingness to participate in any proposed UniSA leadership programs.

Value:  Up to $2000 for a full year (or pro-rata equivalent). This amount will vary dependent on the commitment required and activities completed.

Payment will be in stipend amounts of up to $200 per fortnight, depending on the hours required of the position. Payment is subject to the student being enrolled and maintaining satisfactory academic merit, meeting the agreed hours per week and satisfying the objectives of the scholarship.

Whyalla Scholarship

The University of South Australia Scholarship for Student Leadership is available for a student studying at UniSA’s Whyalla Campus who is interested in undertaking specified activities with the aim of enhancing the overall student experience at UniSA. The successful student will have a unique opportunity to contribute to UniSA's mission to provide an outstanding student experience and develop excellent employability and leadership skills.

Successful recipients will assist the Whyalla team to communicate activities to the student body and/or provide support to the delivery of student experience events. Example activities related to this scholarship include:

  1. Providing advice, support and feedback for Student Life activities and programs.
  2. Contributing to the planning and implementation of a student engagement project.
  3. Recruiting and leading other student leaders to volunteer, provide feedback and input into all of the above tasks, where appropriate.

Applicants are required to provide a written statement (maximum 500 words) detailing:

  • A brief on your proposal of your initiative to enhance the student experience and UniSA

And briefly describe your:

The successful student will have a unique opportunity to contribute to UniSA's mission to provide an outstanding student experience and develop excellent employability and leadership skills.

Successful recipients will assist the Mt Gambier team to communicate activities to the student body and/or provide support to the delivery of student experience events. Example activities related to this scholarship include:

  1. Providing advice, support and feedback for Student Life activities and programs.
  2. Contributing to the planning and implementation of a student engagement project.

Applications not currently open to Mt Gambier campus.

Please note that scholarship recipients enrolled full time at the University are likely to receive this scholarship exempt from tax. Part time students are not able to access this tax concession. UniSA cannot advise the tax implications of receiving this scholarship, and successful applicants should seek personal taxation advice.
