UniSA Online Scholarships and Grants

As a UniSA Online student, you may be eligible for a range of UniSA scholarships and grants. 

Please note: Scholarships and Grants are subject to change and are awarded based on conditions current at the time of award.

UniSA Online Aboriginal Grant

The UniSA Online Aboriginal Grant supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in an undergraduate UniSA Online program.

Eligibility and selection criteria:

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate UniSA Online program (minimum of two courses or one course part-time), in their first academic year, at census date
  • Full-time or part-time load.
  • Identify as Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and accepted as such in the community the student belongs to, lives in, or has lived in.
  • Submission of a written statement.

Applicants are required to provide a written statement (maximum 500 words) outlining: 

  • Academic achievements or prior work highlights/successes.
  • How they identify as an Aboriginal person (please note a declaration of Aboriginality from the community will be requested if selected).
  • Reasons for studying your current program.
  • Future career goals and impact you would like to have on your chosen profession.
  • How the current degree supports your aspirations.
  • Evidence of community involvement.
  • Willingness to act as an ambassador for UniSA in the year in which you receive the grant to document the impact of the grant (e.g. online promotion and testimonials).

Applicants are also required to provide a UniSA Affirmation of Aboriginality form and an accompanying letter that confirms in writing the applicants’ acceptance as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander in the community the student belongs to, lives or has lived in.

The grant will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement and information provided in the written statement.

Shortlisted applicants may be asked to attend a selection panel interview conducted via teleconference.

Value: $5,500 

Payment will be in three instalments: 
$1,000 (paid after the census date for the relevant study period) 
$2,250 (paid following the completion of four UniSA Online courses) 
$2,250 (paid following the completion of eight UniSA online courses) 

The second and third payments are conditional upon successful completion of UniSA Online courses (as specified above) and a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 4.5.

UniSA Online Study Grant

These scholarships provide financial assistance to students enrolled in a UniSA Online program who are considered to be financially disadvantaged and/or from a rural or isolated area.

Eligibility Requirement:
Students are eligible to apply for a UniSA Online Study Grant if they meet all the following criteria:  

  1. Australian citizen‚ a permanent resident, or the holder of a permanent humanitarian visa.
  2. Enrolled in a UniSA Online undergraduate program that is a minimum of 2 years in duration (minimum of two courses or one course part-time) in their first study period‚ at census date.
  3. Provide evidence of financial disadvantage, and/or reside in a rural or isolated area. 

For access to an additional contribution of up to $500, please provide a written statement (maximum 300 words) detailing new equipment or services required, including estimated costs.

Where required, applications may also be weighted according to other equity indicators‚ including‚ for example‚ that applicants identify as Aboriginal or have a disability.  

Once enrolled, applications are accessed through my Scholarships (via logging on to the myUniSA student portal).

How to apply: Online applications from 8 January to 14 February 2025 via my Scholarships.

Value: $1,000, once-off payment (after census date), or pro rata where student is enrolled part-time.

In addition:

Value: Up to $500, once-off payment to assist study start-up costs. 

Students may only receive one UniSA Online Study Grant.

UniSA Online Prize for Excellence

The UniSA Online Prize for Excellence will be awarded to UniSA Online students with the highest cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) in each program. To be awarded the prize, a minimum of four UniSA Online courses must have been completed in the relevant academic year or, full completion of an Undergraduate Certificate or the UniStart program.

Prize recipients will be selected for the previous academic year.

Prizes will be awarded in the following year.

A prize will be awarded annually for each UniSA Online program offered.
