The scholarship benefits

Up to four South Australian residents will be selected to receive a full scholarship for attendance at SHSSP26 from 12 January to 6 February 2026.

Scholarship applications will be evaluated by a Selection Committee according to the criteria listed below, and scholarships will be awarded to the applicants whose application best address the selection criteria.

Who is eligible to apply?

These scholarships will support SHSSP26 participants who are professionals, university graduates, and undergraduate students who have successfully completed at least two years of their studies at the time of SHSSP26 and meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • are a resident in South Australia
  • able to demonstrate their interest in pursuing a career and contributing to the South Australian space sector
  • currently meet the entry criteria of the Southern Hemisphere Space Studies Program.

Particular consideration will be given to applicants of Australian indigenous background who fit the above criteria. Indigenous applicants are requested to make reference to this in their enrolment documentation.

Selection criteria

The Selection Committee will select the scholarship awardees taking into account:

Motivation

  • The applicant’s motivation to forge a career in a space-related field in South Australia.

Financial Need

  • The principal consideration for financial need is whether an otherwise excellent participant would be prevented from enrolling because of lack of financial resources to pay for the tuition, and whether the prospective participant will have no other way to obtain support.

Merit

  • Professional, university graduate or undergraduate performance, professional achievement, evidence of output (e.g. publications, conference presentations, if applicable), extracurricular activities (e.g. chairing of committees, conference organisation, leadership of study groups), are some of the criteria considered to establish merit. The applicant’s enrolment documents (submitted to ISU) should demonstrate potential to contribute to the class in a leadership and team building capacity and outline the likely long-term career benefits to be gained from participation in the program.

Impact

  • The potential contribution of the applicant to the development the South Australian space eco-system through entrepreneurial activity, technology development, industry leadership and/or similar roles.

Documentation required

Applicants are required to submit a scholarship application form (link to form available below) along with their program application and supporting documents to https://www.isunet.edu/apply-shssp/

All applications will be judged on the basis of the information and supporting documents lodged as part of the program application process.
