Hazel Family Scholarship 

The Hazel Family Scholarship aims to assist commencing students from the western suburbs of Adelaide or Lucindale (SA) to study an undergraduate degree at UniSA. The scholarship is available to students from designated high schools who are new to higher education and enrolled full-time or part-time in any UniSA undergraduate degree.

Eligibility and selection criteria:

  • Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or Permanent Humanitarian Visa
  • Academic merit (ATAR of 80 or above inclusive of any adjustment factors)
  • Commencing student attending university for the first time
  • Final year of secondary studies at one of the following South Australian High Schools:
  • Findon High School
  • Le Fevre High School
  • Seaton High School
  • Underdale High School
  • Woodville High School 
  • Lucindale Area School
  • Gap year students are eligible provided the gap does not exceed one calendar year 
  • Full-time or part-time study load 
  • Submission of a written statement

Applicants are required to provide a written statement (maximum 500 words) detailing:

  • reasons for studying their UniSA program and how the degree supports their aspirations including career goals
  • academic achievements including ATAR and subjects undertaken in year 12
  • financial and/or educational disadvantages they would like considered
  • how the scholarship will allow them to devote further time to pursue their academic goals and personal development
  • intended use of funds
  • confirmation they attended one of the designated South Australian high schools in the final year of secondary schooling

If‚ in the view of the selection panel‚ no applicant is sufficiently meritorious‚ no award shall be made.

The scholarship will be awarded to the applicant that best demonstrates passion for their UniSA program and clear future goals related to their field of study, as outlined in the written statement.

Recipients can be in receipt of other scholarships and grants administered by UniSA.

Applicants may be required to attend a selection panel interview. 

Value: up to $18,600

$6,200 per year up to a maximum of three years for full-time students.  Pro rata payments will apply for part-time enrolment.

Yearly payment will be in two instalments:
$3,100.00 (paid after the census date for Study Period 2)
$3,100.00 (paid after the census date for Study Period 5)
