Use of Outdoor Kitchen

FM Assist is responsible for the management and bookings for the Outdoor Kitchen Facilities located at City East, Magill and Mawson Lakes campuses. These facilities are available for use at no cost to:

  • Staff,
  • University of South Australia Students Association (USASA) affiliated Student Groups/Clubs/Societies
  • Student user groups who have the approval of their General Manager.

There is a minimal charge for the use of these facilities to non-affiliated University of South Australia Students Association (USASA) Groups/Clubs/Societies and external hirers.

Student Use

Students who wish to book the Outdoor Kitchen facilities will be required to complete a Functions & Facility hire form to be submitted at least 1 week prior to your event.

Staff Use

Staff who wish to book the Outdoor Kitchen facilities will be required to complete a Functions & Facility hire form to be submitted at least 1 week prior to your event.

Operating Instructions

The Outdoor Kitchen Operating instructions will be provided with the keys at the time of use, along with a copy of the Food Act 2001 and the Information Kit for Charities and Community Groups.

It is imperative that all users have read and understood and will abide by the Food Act 2001, and meet the requirements of the Australian New Zealand Food Standard Code. Please refer to the SA Health website for further information.

Use of Alcohol

Staff that wish to consume and/or keep alcohol on University premises must seek authorization from the relevant Campus Facilities Manager. A limited license will normally be required for Academic / Business Unit functions where the alcohol is not being provided by a licensed caterer/business. Online limited license applications with prior approval of the Campus Facilities Manager must be lodged with the Office of Consumer and Business Services at least:

  • 14 days prior to the event; or 60 days prior to the event if it is a large commercial or high risk event (festival, multi-day event).
  • The limited license must be provided to FM Assist to allow for final approval of the function to be confirmed.
  • The Limited license must be displayed at the event.
  • A copy of a caterer's liquor license must be provided prior to the event if a caterer is serving alcohol at an event on campus.
