Staff Benefits for Graduation

Applications for Staff Benefits for the December 2024 Graduation Ceremonies is now closed.

Applications received by the closing date will be assessed after the closing date with applicants advised of the outcome via email.

In recognition of the significant achievements of our staff, or their immediate family members, who are graduating, eligible staff members can take advantage of one of the following benefits:

• Eligible staff members who are graduating

If you are an eligible staff member attending your graduation ceremony you will not be charged the normal gown hire fee of $50.

or

• Eligible staff members who have immediate family members graduating

If you are an eligible staff member who has a member of your immediate family graduating, you can receive 2 complimentary tickets to the ceremony. Please note these tickets are inclusive of the guest ticket allocation for each ceremony. For example, if the maximum number of guest tickets available for a ceremony is 2, you will receive your 2 tickets at no cost.

Definition of an eligible staff member

Overview

The definition of an eligible staff member is used to determine eligibility for staff wishing to access graduation benefits offered to UniSA staff.

Guidelines

The following is the definition of an eligible staff member.

Staff graduation benefits will be open to UniSA staff currently in employment who are:

• Full time or part time continuing employees.
• Full time or part time fixed term contract employees who have been employed in the University for six months prior to their or their family member's graduation ceremony.
• Academic Casual staff who have worked for not less than 75 paid hours (i.e. with preparation approximately 225 hours input) in the six months prior to their or their immediate family member's graduation ceremony, and who were employed in the University in their normal work pattern during the period of the graduation ceremony.
• Professional Casual staff and Academic Research Staff who have worked for not less than 200 paid hours in the six months prior to their or their immediate family member's graduation ceremony, and who were employed in the University in their normal work pattern during the period of the graduation ceremony. 

Definition of an immediate family member

Overview

The definition of an immediate family member is used to determine eligibility for staff wishing to access graduation benefits offered to UniSA staff.

Guidelines

For the purpose of the Staff Benefit Scheme, an immediate family member is defined as:

• Spouse
• Parents and grandparents
• Children and grandchildren
• Brothers and sisters
• Mother in law and father in law
• Brothers in law and sisters in law
• Daughters in law and sons in law
