Are there any circumstances other than disability that entitle me to extra time in examinations?

*This question is specific to OUA students only*

You may be eligible for extra time and/or the use of an English dictionary if you meet any of the following criteria:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students (ATSI students)
  • Students of non-English speaking background (NESB students) as defined by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) that is:
    • born outside Australia, and
    • arrived in Australia less than ten years previously, and
    • speak a language other than English at home
  • Mature age (i.e. 21 or over at the time of your original OUA enrolment) and speak a language other than English at home
  • Offshore students of non-English speaking background where the language spoken at home is not English and the medium of instruction is English

To apply for variation to standard requirements, please complete the Variation to standard requirements form and return it to the Examinations and Results team by the end of week 8 of the study period. You will need to provide evidence that you meet one of the criteria
