Request for HECS-HELP form

Do I need to submit a completed Request for Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP form to UniSA?

Yes. If you enrol in a Commonwealth supported place you must complete and submit a Request for Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP form to UniSA on or before the census date for your first enrolment as a Commonwealth supported student.

What if I'm paying up front?

  • You must complete the Request for Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP form even if you are not requesting, or are not eligible for HECS-HELP.
  • Your method of paying your student contribution does not make you exempt from the requirement to submit a Request for Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP form.

What happens if I do not submit the Request for Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP form on or before the census date?

Your enrolment will be cancelled.

How do I obtain the Request for Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP form?

You will complete this form as part of your online enrolment, through myEnrolment under the CAF (Commonwealth Assistance Form) section. You can obtain a hard copy of the Request for Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP form from Campus Central if you do not have access to the online version.

I have already completed a Request for Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP form

If you change programs during your studies or start another program, you are required to complete a new CAF.

Do I have to provide my TFN on my Request for Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP form?

You need to provide your TFN on your Request for Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP form if you are eligible for HECS-HELP and you:

  • wish to obtain a HECS-HELP loan for all or part of your student contribution; or
  • are paying your student contribution up front but, as a safety net, you want to ensure that if you fail to make the payment on or before the census date, that you can still obtain a HECS-HELP loan.

How do I get a TFN?

Please see: Obtaining Tax File Number

Note that If you:

  • do not give your TFN to your University by the end of the census date; and
  • have not made a full up front payment of your student contribution, your enrolment will be cancelled.
