Asbestos Register

The University utilises an Asbestos Management Plan (AMP) to assist in complying with its obligations relating to the Asbestos Prohibition legislation and to prevent exposure to airborne asbestos fibres whilst Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) remain in the workplace.

As part of the AMP, the University maintains Asbestos Registers which are constantly updated as changes are made to our Facilities. A copy of the Asbestos Register can be obtained via:

Drilling, cutting, removing or modifying asbestos products is governed by law and is not to be undertaken without prior approval of the Facilities Management Unit.

Any discrepancies or changes in ACM (i.e. as a result of discovery or disposal through works) must be reported using an 'Asbestos Testing & Change Summary' form to the Campus Operations Group by emailing: maintenance@unisa.edu.au.

Note

UniSA's Asbestos register has been compiled using a non-invasive inspection methodology. UniSA has taken all reasonably practicable steps to ensure that its Asbestos Register is accurate and up to date and that it complies with the law. UniSA's Asbestos Register has been updated and compiled in accordance with UniSA's Asbestos Management Plan and associated procedures. Please note that the absence of an entry within this Register does not necessarily correlate to the absence of asbestos in that space. All contractors must undertake their own inspections by a competent person and all works should proceed with caution. Contractors are required to comply with all relevant laws including the Work, Health & Safety Act, Regulations and Codes of Practice. Contractors are to refer to the UniSA Properties Register (available from the campus FM Assist Office) to ascertain applicable construction dates and copies of any associated procedures before commencing works.
