Cleaning and Waste Management
The University engages Australian Green Clean to clean its facilities at its metro and Mt Gambier campuses to an agreed detailed schedule. All buildings are cleaned, and general waste removed daily from Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays and the University closure period.
General cleaning includes the cleaning of the following facilities:
- Rooms, corridors, stairways and entrance lobbies
- Floors, carpets, walls, doors, partitions and ceilings
- Internal windows (external windows annually), window ledges, mirrors and glass
- Furniture, fixtures and other fittings
- Signage (permanent) including Campus maps, blade signs, glass fronted cabinets and panels and other related fixtures and fittings
- Ceiling fans, air conditioning, ventilation and exhaust vents
- Toilets, bathrooms, washbasins and showers, multi access suites, prayer rooms, clinics and other areas as agreed including sharps, sanitary (including nappy) waste management and janitorial services
- Paths, steps, landings, ramps and entrances, handrails, covered walkways, building crossovers, balconies, verandas and car parks
- External walls, balustrades and eaves
- External work areas (including patios, pergolas etc)
- Waste removal from internal and external rubbish and recycling receptacles, including general waste, recycling, liquid waste and bin hire
What you can expect
The main cleaning on Campus is carried out between the hours of 6:00am and 10:00am with a focus to have teaching areas completed as a priority
6:00am - 8:00am
- Corridors
- Vacuuming
- Laboratories - Floors and hand wash basins only
- Retail dining areas
- Stairs and lifts
- Student Lounges
- Teaching Areas
- Kitchens (Student & Staff)
- Student - All fittings and equipment. Fridges will be cleared weekly, fridge signed accordingly
- Staff - All bench-tops, sinks. External of fridges and microwaves. Additional cleaning can be arranged, cost centre will be required
8:00am - 10:00am
- Campus Central
- Libraries
- Offices (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) - All free surfaces, blinds, window sills, doors and vents
- Rubbish Removal - General
- Rubbish Removal Offices - Monday, Wednesday, Friday
- Toilets
- High use toilets will have additional cleaning throughout the day
- 24/7 areas will have additional cleaning throughout the day
The operator shall undertake all works necessary to maintain the high standard of cleanliness and amenity required throughout the facilities.

Staff are encouraged to provide feedback on our cleaning services, including areas of performance that appears to fall below the acceptable standard.
