Employment Conditions

Employment conditions may vary, therefore managers and employees should refer to the applicable industrial instrument for employment conditions and principles. Employment types

Generally the employment types recognised at the University of South Australia are:

• Continuing – Employment for the ordinary hours of work per week (may be performed on a part-time fraction) with no fixed end date. All employment other than fixed-term and casual employment is seen as continuing employment.
• Fixed-term contract – Employment for a specified period, the applicable industrial instrument specifies the conditions in which a fixed term contract may be offered.
• Casual – A person engaged by the hour and paid on an hourly basis. Please refer to the applicable industrial instrument for the principles of casual employment.
