Academic standards and qualifications by level and academic employment type

The Minimum Standards for Academic Levels (MSAL) are set out in the Enterprise Agreement and provide an explanation of the minimum level of complexity and achievement, degree of autonomy and the leadership requirements of each level.

The Minimum Qualifications for Academic Staff outlines the minimum qualifications required to appoint academic staff.

The classification standards explain and expand the MSAL for academic staff (but do not replace them) and in conjunction with the University of South Australia Academic Workload Guidelines 2019, and your position description, will support academic staff and supervisors with recruitment, performance development and management, and with preparation for academic promotion.
