In support of this commitment the University is continuing to review work currently undertaken on a casual basis to determine casual activities that may be combined to create fixed term and / or continuing opportunities. Positions that are advertised as a result of this review can be found via the relevant Academic and Professional Opportunities links below.
Yaitya Warpulai Tappa (our Aboriginal Employment Action Plan) also outlines UniSA’s commitment to transitioning Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander casual academic staff to more secure forms of employment, and we strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander casual academic staff to apply for fixed term or continuing opportunities advertised via the Academic Recruitment link below.
From Wednesday, 26 February 2025, changes to the National Employment Standards (NES) as a result of Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) also provides a choice to casual staff members, with at least 6 months’ casual employment, to request changing their employment status to continuing (permanent). This replaces previous NES ‘casual conversion’ process.
For more information regarding the changes to casual employment, please see our Casual Employment at UniSA webpage.
