The Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) is an Australian Government statutory agency that collects and processes quantitative and qualitative data from all Australian organisations with 100 or more staff on their employee demographics, policies and strategies relating to gender equality. WGEA uses this data to analyse and promote gender equality in Australian workplaces and administer the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012.
UniSA is deeply committed to providing an inclusive and safe environment, where genuine work is undertaken to recognise and remove gender biases and other barriers impacting gender equity in the University community. The University greatly values the insights and guidance gained from its annual reporting to WGEA and the resulting gender pay gap reports. The gender pay gap is a vital indicator of progress towards gender equity and provides insights into areas where targeted measures can be directed. While the University is proud of the gains made towards reduction of the gender pay gap at UniSA over the years, it acknowledges that elimination of gender inequality requires ongoing commitment to data-driven actions and there is more work to be done on this complex area.
Note: The collection of data for non-binary employees remains voluntary in WGEA reporting and is therefore not yet represented in WGEA reporting outcomes. WGEA are currently working towards the mandatory collection of data on gender diverse employees in future submissions.
