Unconscious Bias

Learn how Unconscious Biases undermine Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and what to do about it.

Every day every one of us is taking - or not taking - some action based on thoughts and beliefs that are driven by our unconscious thinking system. The result? Our decisions, relationships, and perceptions of others are sometimes driven not by rational observation, but by inaccurate assumptions.

This half-day workshop will be facilitated by Anna Lee Leed Consulting. It explores how our unconscious thinking system is critical to our survival - it helps us multitask, respond effectively when our safety is compromised, and avoid information overload. However, unconscious processes are also prone to errors that can lead to flawed decision-making, significant bias, and blinkered thinking.

What you will gain

  • An understanding of the difference between conscious and unconscious thinking systems.
  • Ability to identify ‘Red Flag’ language, body language, processes, and scenarios that indicate that unconscious dynamics may be influencing behaviour, perceptions, assessments, and/or decisions.
  • Ways to apply safeguards that will minimise the impact of unconscious bias in the workplace.

Who should attend
